Movie Review: Star Trek Into Darkness

One of my most anticipated movies of the year, even though I'm not a major trekkie fans, having only seen the movies. But nonetheless, I was terribly excited for this movie. First off, it stars Benedict Cumberpatch, my favourite Sherlock Holmes of them all, playing a villain... A very good villain at that. Secondly, I love most sci-fi movies, definetely ones that are on a level such as this and just have great dialougue mixed with amazing story. Anyways...

Star Trek Into Darkness continues the continuing adventure of the Starship Enterprise as they fulfil their duties by Starfleet. Captain Kirk is called to the rescue when London is attacked by a terrorist and his loving mentor is killed. But Captain Kirk will not realise what he has gotten him and his crew into when he goes to capture the terrorist, avoiding Starfleets command of just plain old killing him. And so starts a battle of the brains.
Now I thought this film was AMAZING! The story was brilliant, the acting was briliant and the sets were amazing. I think every J.J. Abrams movie I've seen has been brilliant, but this one tops the list. Trekkies will get their fair dose of Star Trek from one liners and cameos. Benedict Cumberpatch, as said before, plays an amazing villain, and I'm glad he's really getting noticed for his acting abilities now. There is so much to say about this, but I can't - something that will need to be discussed in a Spoiler Filled Discussion. Chris Pine has come a long way from his old style of playboy acting - you still witness it in this film, but it's less obvious. And even though almost 3/4 of the movie is basically them in a spaceship standing still, you will still be entranced and be able to enjoy this masterpiece. Dialogue scenes steal action scenes, though the action scenes are still quite amazing. This movie, to me is a 9/10, and many will not be dissapointed.
